Digital knock-offs, ceded sovereignty and international law: the repercussions of SAS Institute Inc. v. World Programming Ltd

This presentation will discuss the recent computer software copyright decision of Mr. Justice Arnold in SAS Institute Inc. v. World Programming Ltd. [2010] EWHC 1829 in which it was found that, inter alia, the WTO TRIPs agreement and the WIPO Copyright Treaty have direct effect on UK domestic law. The talk will discuss the repercussions for software copyright, EU & UK statutory interpretation and the UK intellectual property regime.
