Property Law Discussion Group
The Consideration of Non-Financial Factors in Housing Possession Cases: Law in Theory and Law in Practice

Speaker: Professor Susan Bright, University of Oxford

Venue: Oxford Law Faculty SCR

The Property Law Discussion Group and the Socio-Legal Discussion Group will jointly host a talk by Professor Susan Bright (New College, University of Oxford) on Thursday 22 November at 12.30pm. Professor Bright will outline an empirical research project that she is doing with Lisa Whitehouse of Hull University. The overall research question that they are looking at is how much consideration is given to non-financial considerations during the repossession process. At the meeting, Professor Bright will mainly talk about why she is doing empirical work, together with the challenges and difficulties that it presents for doctrinal lawyers who are untrained in either social science methodologies or methods.

All Faculty members and graduate students are very welcome. If you would like to attend the meeting, please inform Luke Rostill (luke.rostill@law.ox.ac.uk) by Monday 19 November (Seventh Week) for catering purposes.
