Leslie Green

is Professor of the Philosophy of Law and Fellow of Balliol College. Before taking up his post Professor Green taught for many years at Osgoode Hall Law School and in the Department of Philosophy at York University in Toronto, and he continues to have a part-time appointment at Osgoode Hall. He is also a former Regular Visiting Professor at the School of Law, University of Texas at Austin, and a member of the Hauser Global Faculty at the NYU Law School.

Professor Green is author of The Authority of the State, and co-editor of Law and the Community, and has published many papers in jurisprudence and political theory on topics including the nature of law, freedom of expression, minority rights, language rights, and the philosophy of gender and sexuality. He is currently writing about general jurisprudence, about the relationship between social groups and the state, and about sexuality and justice. He serves on the editorial boards of Legal Theory, Law and Philosophy, Ethics and Social Philosophy, Canadian Journal of Law and Jurisprudence, and the Osgoode Hall Law Journal.
