Monroe E Price International Media Law Moot Court Competition

The Price Moot Court Competition is organised by the Programme in Comparative Media Law & Policy at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies within the Faculty of Law, in collaboration with the International Media Lawyers Association. The competition, which is open to students from around the world, focuses on media law and policy, including, in particular, freedom of expression as set out in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The competition is set before a fictitious body, the “Universal Freedom of Expression Court”.

India Moot Court

As part of plans to expand the Price Moot Competition, PCMLP decided to introduce regional moot court competitions in a phased manner. The first regional moot court competition was held in India in December 2010. The moot was organised in partnership with the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata and was hosted at the National Law University, Delhi. This was continued the year after, in December 2011. Though the moot court problem for the Indian rounds are very similar to the one being used for the rounds in Oxford, the moot court in India is based on domestic law. The rounds in India act as a qualifying competition for Indian teams to participate in the Price Moot Court Competition in Oxford.
