We are delighted to announce that David Nelken, Visiting Professor in the Centre for Criminology, has been awarded the ISA-RCSL PODGORECKI PRIZE 2011by the International Sociological Association-Research Committee of Sociology of Law. The Prize was awarded during the International Conference jointly organised by the ISA-RCSL and the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, held in Dharamshala, India, on September 10th-12th, 2011.

The Commission, composed by Prof. DEVANAYK SUNDARAM from India, Prof. HANNE PETERSEN from Denmark, and HARRIET SILIUS from Finland, awarded it to Prof. DAVID NELKEN for his ‘distinguished and outstanding lifetime achievement’, across the globe, as an excellent scholar and publicist, as a pioneer in sociology of law, as a great communicator, as a devoted administrator and as a "bridge" between legal cultures.
