Visiting Professor

Thomas Bingham of Cornhill, KG, PC, FBA, joined the Faculty of Law as a Visiting Professor in January 2009. Appointed to the High Court in 1980 and to the Court of Appeal in 1986, he successively held the positions of Master of the Rolls, Lord Chief Justice, and Senior Law Lord. He was the Chair of the Oxford Law Foundation, and served as the Visitor of five Oxford colleges including his own college, Balliol. He was the High Steward of the University from 2002 until his retirement in 2008.

Lord Bingham died on Saturday 11 September 2010 after a battle with cancer.
