OPBP Internship Programme
The OPBP Internship Programme is available for post-graduate law students at the University of Oxford. The aim of the Programme is to provide financial assistance to graduate students seeking non-paid or poorly-paid internships at public interest organisations. The Programme hopes to encourage student involvement in OPBP’s work, and broader public interest work, while developing OPBP’s relationships with partner organisations.
There will be 5 – 10 grants of up to £500 awarded annually.
Who is Eligible?
A person is eligible to apply for the OPBP Internship Programme if he or she is currently enrolled in a post-graduate law degree at the University of Oxford. In exceptional circumstances a non-law post-graduate student may be eligible to apply. Successful applicants must agree to comply with all of the conditions of the award. For further details please consult the attached Policy Document.
Where can Interns go?
Students are expected to approach an organisation to arrange their own short-term internship placement. In order to assist students in their search, OPBP has created the Student Internship Database, which lists public interest organisations that accept internship applications. Students are not however limited to organisations listed in the Student Internship Database and are free to explore opportunities at other public interest organisations. Students who secure internships from organisations in the Internship Placement Database will not have any advantage over students who choose to pursue internships at organisations that are not listed.
How to Apply
Every applicant must complete an application form which must contain the names and details of two referees. Students who are undertaking research degrees must have the consent of their supervisor before applying. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in Oxford by a selection of the OPBP Executive Committee.
The deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday, 4 March 2012. No late applications will be accepted.
For further details please consult the attached Policy Document.
