Sir John Parker and the Parker Review Committee published a report entitled: ‘A Report into the Ethnic Diversity of UK Boards: “Beyond One by ‘21”’. The Report highlights that ethnic minority representation in the Boardrooms across the FTSE 100 is disproportionately low, especially when looking at the number of UK citizen directors of colour. As such, the Parker Review recommends:

(1) the increase of the ethnic diversity of UK Boards;

(2) the development of candidates for the pipeline &  of a plan for succession; and

(3) the enhancement of transparency & disclosure.

As regards the implementation of the suggested recommendations, it is claimed that each FTSE 100 company would need to appoint one minority director in the period to 2021.
