College: St Cross College
Scholarship: Des Voeux Chambers Scholarship
I completed the LLB the University of Hong Kong in 2019. As part of my undergraduate studies, I spent a year as a visiting student in law at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge. I am currently reading for the BCL at St Cross College.
What are your career ambitions?
I intend to practice at the Hong Kong Bar. My interests include IP law, law and technology and corporate law.
Is life in Oxford different to what you expected it to be?
I have tried to gather as much information about Oxford and the BCL as I could before I came here but I am still overwhelmed by the passion of peer students and academics for different areas of law! Talks and other activities are very accessible and time management becomes a challenge.
What have you found most rewarding about your programme so far?
The wide range of reading materials serves as the perfect basis for us to explore the underlying legal issues. Students come to seminars and tutorials well-prepared and we are all able to collaborate and think beyond the materials. Besides, I am really excited about the new option Law and Computer Science. It adopts a truly interdisciplinary approach and I get to work with computer scientists in a lab and devise novel legaltech solutions.
Are you involved with or joined any projects or societies?
I have attended talks and seminars of the Oxford Fintech & Legaltech Society as well as the Chinese Law Discussion Group. I am also actively looking for non-law and non-academic events that fit my interest.
Through the generosity of Des Voeux Chambers, we are delighted to offer a scholarship worth £10,000 for students embarking on the BCL.
