The Criminology Research Students’ Discussion Group provides a forum for research students to present their work in progress and receive feedback from their peers. In addition, the group facilitates discussion of and the provision of information on issues of common interest, including publishing, conference presentations, ethical questions raised by research, preparation for evaluations (Qualifying Test, Confirmation of Status and the viva) and post-doctoral opportunities.
The group is funded through the generosity of the Centre for Criminology at the University of Oxford.
A different DPhil student convenes the group each year, and Prof. Carolyn Hoyle acts as the group’s senior mentor. Meetings take place on selected Wednesdays during term at 1pm in the Criminology Meeting Room in the Centre for Criminology. A complimentary lunch is provided and dietary requirements are accommodated where possible.
