Centre for Criminology

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 per annum

The Centre for Criminology is looking to appoint a suitably qualified early career academic to a 12-month Departmental Lectureship in Criminology. . The post-holder will be expected to teach and assess on the MSc in Criminology & Criminal Justice and on the 3rd year undergraduate law option in Criminology & Criminal Justice.  The Departmental Lecturer will work under the supervision of the Director of the Centre for Criminology, Professor Mary Bosworth and mentorship of Dr Rachel Condry, the Assistant Director.

The postholder will be required to to plan and provide teaching for the FHS in Criminology and Criminal Justice and some of the Centre’s MSc options;  to undertake research in the areas in which they have expertise and disseminate the outcome of their research by publication of articles, books, or other appropriate materials; to plan and develop reading lists and course materials and supervise MSc students in Criminology.

Applicants must have excellent knowledge and understanding of criminology & criminal justice, acquired through academic study and/or legal practice; hold, or be hearing completion of a relevant PhD/DPhil in Law/Criminology; demonstrated capacity to make a substantial and significant contribution to research, and for publication of the outcome of research, in criminology and the ability to give excellent lectures and classes within the field of appointment.
