Bonavero Institute congratulates all qualifying teams in the Regional Rounds of the Price Media Law Moot Court Competition
In January and February 2026, the six regional rounds of the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition 2025-2026 were held across the world in South Asia, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
The Bonavero Institute was delighted to see 86 teams participate in the Regional Rounds, with 35 of them qualfying for the international rounds. We look forward to welcoming all these teams to the University of Oxford in April 2026!
About the Price Media Law Moot Court Competition
The annual Price Media Law Moot Court Competition challenges students to engage in comparative research of legal standards at the national, regional and international levels, and to develop their arguments (in written and oral forms) on cutting-edge questions in media law and freedom of expression. The selective International Rounds are held in Oxford, gathering participants from countries as diverse as Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Lebanon, the Philippines, Serbia, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine, the UK, and the USA. The Price Media Law Moot Court Competition has been part of the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights in the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford since 2017.
Asia-Pacific
The 14th Annual Asia-Pacific Regional Rounds, hosted in partnership with Lyceum of the Philippines University, were held 11 – 14 January 2026 in Manila, Philippines. The winning team was Singapore Management University, with the University of the Philippines as the runner-up. The other teams qualifying for the International Rounds were Ateneo de Naga University, the University of International Business, Economics and University of San Agustin, Lyceum of the Philippines University-College of Law, and Peking University School of Transnational Law.
Middle East
The 14th Annual Middle East Regional Rounds were held 1 – 4 February 2026 in Cairo, Egypt. The winning team was The British University in Egypt, with Ain Shams University as the runner-up. The other teams that qualified for the International Rounds were the Applied Science Private University in Jordan, Cairo University, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, and Dar Al Hekma University - Saudi Arabia.
Europe
The 7th Europe Regional Rounds, hosted in partnership with the University of Paris, were held 28 – 30 January in Paris, France. The winning team was the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy, Ukraine, with the University of Oxford, UK as the runner-up. The other teams qualifying for the International Rounds were the Law Society of Ireland, the University of Belgrade, the University of Bucharest, the University of Vienna, and the University of Ljubljana.
Americas
The 13th Annual Americas Regional Rounds, hosted in partnership with the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, were held 11– 15 February 2026 in New York, United States of America. The winning team was the University of Chicago, with the Osgoode Hall Law School as the runner-up. The other teams qualifying for the International Rounds Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Brooklyn Law School, and the University of Sao Paulo.
South Asia
The 16th Annual South Asia Regional Rounds, hosted in partnership with the Centre for Communication Governance at National Law University, Delhi, were held online from 5– 8 February 2026. The winning team was National Academy of Legal Studies and Research, NALSAR Hyderabad, with National Law Institute University, NLIU Bhopal as the runner-up. The other teams qualifying for the International Rounds were Eastern University, Bangladesh, Hidayatullah National Law University, HNLU Raipur, Gujarat National Law University, GNLU Gandhinagar, and Denning Law School.
Africa
The 9th Annual Africa Regional Rounds were held online from 13 – 14 February 2026. The winning team was Africa University, with Ambrose Alli University as the runner-up. The other teams qualifying for the International Rounds were Africa University, the University of Fort Hare, and the University of Iringa.
