In Memoriam: Dr David Potter

It is with great sadness that the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights has learned of the death on 28 June 2026 of David Potter, a world-famous pioneer in the field of personal computing.  

Together with his wife, Elaine Potter, herself a leading journalist in the UK, David established the David and Elaine Potter Foundation in 1999, a philanthropic foundation, dedicated to funding education and the strengthening of civil society.  At its founding, the Potter Foundation made a generous grant to the Bonavero Institute for which we remain deeply grateful. 

David was an extraordinary person, a brilliant scientist, whose doctoral work in physics was undertaken at Imperial College, London, a successful entrepreneur, and a generous and far-sighted philanthropist.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Elaine, and to his family.
