Registrations open for the Oxford Introduction to Law in the UK Summer Programme

‘The Oxford Introduction to Law in the UK – Thinking Deeply About Law’ online Summer programme is now in its third year.  Designed to give people around the world a chance to develop their knowledge of law, and to engage with the research and teaching for which Oxford is famous, the programme offers participants an opportunity to engage with key aspects of law, its context, and its place in the UK.  It is unique in its combination of lectures, seminars and tutorials offering an insight into more specialist subjects such as Jurisprudence, Human Rights, and Law and Technology.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with exciting concepts and practical problems, delve into the complexities of legal reasoning, and gain an understanding of how the UK legal system works by looking at the traditional bedrock of the law as well as some emerging areas and specialist topics. Students will also be able to learn in Oxford-style tutorials with world-leading experts and have their work assessed.

One of last year’s participants said:

I think this was a hugely thought-provoking and enriching programme and I am so glad I came on it. It exceeded all my expectations. I liked the fact that, even though some of the subject matters were sometimes heavy, the lectures still managed to be upbeat and funny in places. I finished every day feeling really inspired and grateful and I learnt a great deal in two weeks. I liked the fact the course attendees were diverse as it made for really interesting questions and conversations in seminars- it was fascinating to hear about other jurisdictions.

The Oxford Introduction to Law in the UK programme is open anyone who is currently at university; has graduated from university; has an offer to study at university; or is at least 19 years old by 12 July 2021.
