Part-time Pathways to Law Assistant

Grade 4: £20,989 - £24,298 p.a. (pro rata)

We are looking for someone to support our ‘Pathways To Law’ programme intended to encourage school children to apply to study law at University. You will be responsible for practical arrangements for the Pathways programme, such as room bookings, catering, travel, deliveries, attendance lists, and risk assessments; and you work as a member of a small team of colleagues involved in the Pathways programme in the Faculty and in the University Offices. In practice this will include attending briefing and planning meetings, responding to changes in the programme, being aware of how the finances are managed, and contributing to the reporting and evaluation of the programme.

Applicants must have work experience in a similar role, with proven organisational skills, a very good standard of written communication, effective interpersonal skills, a flexible approach to work, and the capacity to understand and support a range of administrative systems and processes.

The role is 40% FTE, but is normally worked as 15 hours per week with the additional hours taken as time off in lieu at quieter times. The Assistant will normally be expected to spread these hours across at least three working days per week, and to attend certain meetings. The role is available immediately, and fixed-term until 30 November 2017.
