Dr Livia Holden is seeking a research assistant to help with the validation of deliverables from EURO-EXPERT’s consultants and for entering data into an interactive online map.

Validation of deliverables:

The Research Assistant is required to coordinate the reception of deliverables from 12 consultants and to assist Dr Holden in a 2-step process of validation that includes the following tasks:  checking that the deliverables meet the agreed targets of format and quality of data. She/he is also required to provide preliminary feedback on draft deliverables and to respond to technical questions on the use of Excel and Qualtrics.

Entering data on an interactive map

This Research Assistant is required to also enter data into an interactive map online which has been already set up. Data are textual information on the occurrence of cultural expertise in schools, hospitals, and prisons/detention centres collected in the countries of the research by the data-collectors. She/he will be required to position location pins on the map and fill-in the relevant information for each location for an initial number of 200 locations. On average, it should take approximately 15 minutes to populate the information for each location.

Duration and hours

The work is to start immediately and will run until 30 April 2019.

The hours will vary, but the RA will work between 30-40 hours over the course of the tasks detailed above.

The work will initially be 5 hours/week and will reduce to 2 hours/week after 2 months

You will not be required to work for more than 6 hours in any given week.

  • A general understanding of Socio-Legal studies is essential.

  • Familiarity with Google Maps OA platform.

  • Good admin and IT skills are essential.

  • Good communication skills

  • The work can be done in any place where you have a good Internet connection.


This post is open to all part-time staff or current graduate research students in the Law Faculty.  The hours are in line with the restrictions on working hours should a student be selected.

Rate of Pay

Short term, casual work (less than 12 weeks): This will be paid at the standard research assistant rate of £15.10/hour plus holiday pay of £1.82 = total of £16.92/hour
