This event is only open to current undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Law.

This competition is a major new addition to the Mooting Programme. It is generously sponsored by 7 King’s Bench Walk, which is a leading commercial set of barristers. 7 King’s Bench Walk currently has former tenants at all levels of the judicial hierarchy, including Lord Mance in the Supreme Court. Other former tenants of 7 King’s Bench Walk who sat at the ultimate appellate level include Lord Denning, Lord Goff, Lord Brandon and Lord Hobhouse.

The subject matter of the competition is commercial law, and the moot problem raises general issues in the law of contract and the law of torts. Cash prizes and work experience at 7 King’s Bench Walk are available, in accordance with the competition’s rules.

The competition will take place in Temple, London, and the Grand Final will be heard in the Lord Chief Justice’s Court, and will be judged by the Rt Hon Sir Andrew Longmore, who is a Lord Justice of Appeal and a former tenant of 7 King’s Bench Walk.

The competition will take place over the course of a single day. Transport to and from London will be provided. The proceedings will include a drinks reception and dinner. A detailed schedule will be published as soon as the deadline for applications has passed.

To apply, fill out the application form below. Entries close on Friday 6 February at 11.59PM.
