Launch of the Oxford Chinese Law Discussion Group & Drinks Reception, 29 May 2018

We are excited to announce the launch of the Oxford Chinese Law Discussion Group, which provides a forum for scholarly discussion and debate on topical areas and developments in Chinese law as well as the intersections between Chinese, common, and civil laws and legal traditions.

The inaugural meeting will feature preeminent Chinese law scholar, Prof. Jacques DeLisle. Prof. DeLisle is the Stephen A. Cozen Professor of Law & Professor of Political Science; Director, Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. His research and teaching focus on contemporary Chinese law and politics, including legal reform and its relationship to economic reform and political change in China, the international status of Taiwan and cross-Strait relations, China’s engagement with the international order, legal and political issues in Hong Kong under Chinese rule, and U.S.-China relations.

Our discussion group launch and meeting will take place at 5pm, Tuesday 29 May at the Dickson Poon China Centre Building at St Hugh's College (entrance via Canterbury Rd). There will be a drinks reception after the lecture, which everyone is welcome to attend.

Please contact Dr Mimi Zou for more information about the event and the discussion group.
