Speaker(s)
Max Watson

Max Watson, Director of the Political Economy of Financial Markets Programme, and Fellow of Wolfson College, will deliver this lecture based on his experiences as a Senior Official at the IMF and the European Commission.

He will discuss what lessons emerge from his first-hand knowledge of handling economic crises, and how change can be catalysed in the face of deeply entrenched obstacles to reform. Some of these lessons, he suggests, were neglected or forgotten when the euro area crisis broke out.

Professor David Vines will act as discussant for this lecture.
