In June the UN Human Rights Council decided to commence the process for drafting a binding instrument / treaty codifying the responsibilities of corporations for human rights. It also decided to push for the implementation of the UN Guidelines on Business and Human Rights and stronger judicial and non-judicial remedies for corporate based human rights abuses. On 24 October, stakeholders in the business and human rights debate will gather at Oxford University to discuss the meaning and impact of these decisions and the future of corporate regulation vis-a-vis human rights. Spaces are limited. For further information and to register please contact vuyelwa.kuuya@politics.ox.ac.uk.
