The event will discuss Australia's tobacco plain packaging laws, the legal challenges to them, and the intellectual property, constitutional and international law issues raised by the litigation. The Australian government is currently facing a constitutional challenge and a bilateral investment treaty challenge (Australia - Hong Kong). Other states are facing, or have faced, legal challenges to their laws regulating the marketing of tobacco products, and the discussion will also consider the legal position in other jurisdictions, especially the EU. The event will begin with short presentations from:
