Islamic finance benefits from strong support in France. In building an appropriate and friendly environment for Islamic finance, two legislative amendments were proposed to amend the French Civil Code with respect to property law. This presentation will focus on (i) the French legal environment for issuing Islamic bonds (sukuk), in particular the "ownership" or "property" right that the beneficiary of sukuk (holders of Islamic bonds) seem to be requested to hold to comply with Sharia requirements and (ii) with the interaction between trusts & fiducie and sukuk.
