This lecture will address the ecological preconditions of, and limits to, human rights.  Professor Caney will criticise the prevailing ways of conceptualising the relationship between humans and ecological resources, including (1) the rights to emit a certain level of greenhouse gases and (2) more generally rights to ecological space.  He will proposal a novel third way to understand the relationship between humans and ecological resources, better suited to protecting the human and the planet.
