Speaker(s)
Baroness Ruth Deech

Chair of the Bar Standards Board, crossbench life peer in the House of Lords and former Chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, Baroness Ruth Deech is a woman of tremendous influence.

From 2004-2008, she was Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, and it is this background that informs the theme of her presentation. She will discuss the merits and issues of legal education and consider how it ought to develop. With the BPTC aptitude test pending final approval and competition in the legal jobs market as fierce as ever, the evening will provide an exclusive insight into highly topical issues for anyone considering a career in the law.

In addition to this, Baroness Deech will address the question of why, in 2012, women remain few and far between at the highest levels of the Bar.
