Jaime Clemett, Worcester - Co-chair

I applied for co-chair because I had a interested in human rights law- specifically pro bono work- and I really wanted to have a role in running the programme as it’s currently the only human rights or pro bono provision at the university. I am very passionate about representing and advocating for the programme.

I would love to expand the pro bono provisions at Oxford University so that we can provide support to even more people in the local community.

I have a passion for pro-bono work and thought OLA provided an invaluable service to the Oxford community. To grow OLA as much as possible while maintaining the high standard of work we set for our trainees, so we can make the maximum impact possible !

I applied to join the OLA committee because I wanted to turn my academic passion for human rights into something practical and people-focused. After researching issues like the Melilla border tragedy and the limits of asylum protection in Europe, I became motivated to help those directly affected. OLA’s partnership with T&M offers a rare opportunity to combine rigorous research with real impact - I’m really excited to help make the more accessible and collaborative for everyone involved!

My goal this year is to strengthen the connection between T&M and OLA trainees - making communication smoother, training more engaging, and our impact more visible!

Having parents who moved to the UK as child refugees, using my knowledge of the law to help others is of personal significance to me. The opportunity to help the community in Oxford is truly unique, especially as the sector is experiencing detrimental legal aid cuts.

My goal for this year is to promote the scheme through joint posts with the faculty and start a blog, focusing on the scheme as well as other human rights issues.
