Debbie is an MPhil candidate in Socio-Legal Research interested in reparations movements, transitional justice, and immigrant rights. She is currently researching the history of reparations granted by the United States federal government, with the goal of understanding legislative, litigative, and discursive strategies that social movements use to advocate for transitional justice.
Prior to coming to Oxford, Debbie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies (double major/joint honors, summa cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania. She also has extensive experience as an advocate and community organizer, having worked on immigration and racial justice initatives in Charlotte, North Carolina and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
