My DPhil project, supervised by Professor Timothy Endicott and Dr Thomas Adams, is aimed at developing a descriptive account of the social practice of law, and especially of its continued operation in situations of constitutional crisis. One particular aspect of my project is to develop an understanding of legal practice and discourse which deals with law not as a systematic set of norms, but a dynamic framework of social meaning which we use to make practical sense of our actions.
I teach Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence. I'm also a Teaching Assistant in Jurisprudence and Legal Theory at Queen Mary in London. Before coming to Balliol, I read law at St Anne's College, Oxford and political theory at the LSE.
