Kiri is currently a DPhil in law candidate at Mansfield College.  She is Maori (the indigenous people of New Zealand), of Ngati Wai and Ngapuhi tribal descent.  Her research focuses on intellectual property and indigenous peoples' traditional knowledge.  Prior to her time at Oxford, Kiri worked at the World Intellectual Property Organization and as a commercial litigator at one of New Zealand's leading law firms.  

Kiri holds an LLM from Harvard University, where she studied as a Fulbright scholar, and a BA, LLB (Hons) conjoint degree from the University of Auckland.
