Biography
Thesis: Penal Power and Bordered Identity in England and Wales: Polish Prisoner Perspectives.
Liz has a BSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Birkbeck, University of London where she was awarded the ICPR prize for outstanding achievment in Criminology. She went on to complete a MSc at Univerity of Oxford in Criminology and Criminal Justice where she attained distinction level honours. Her current DPhil project explores the experiences of East European foreign national prisoners (specifically Polish male prisoners) serving time in a foreign-national only prison in England and Wales. This doctoral research is supervised by Professor Mary Bosworth and is funded by the +3 Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Grand Union Studentship.
General interestests include border criminology, sociology of prisons and punishment and issues surrounding race, ethnicity and class.
