Biography

Marlena is an MPhil candidate (first year DPhil) researching the normative foundations for expanding equality law to prohibit discrimination on the grounds of young age. Alongside her research, Marlena works as a legal consultant for Rights Watch UK and as a Junior Dean at Exeter College.

In 2016 Marlena was awarded the Vinerian Scholarship for best performance on the BCL. Prior to coming to Oxford, she worked for the Human Dignity Trust, a legal charity based in London that provides technical legal support for local litigants seeking to challenge laws which criminalise homosexuality. Marlena has qualifying law degrees in Scotland and England, having completed her first law degree at the University of Edinburgh.
