Researcher, “Place, crime and insecurity in everyday life: A contemporary study of an English town”


Sergen is a part-time researcher in 'Place, Crime and Insecurity in Everyday Life' project. He is conducting a digital ethnography to understand how Macclesfield residents experience (in)security in their everyday environments. Sergen is also a PhD candidate in anthropology at London School of Economics. His dissertation is a study of emerging forms of historical experience, subjectivity, and mourning in Cyprus, and is based on 20 months of field research among war veterans. Previously, he also worked at University College London as a postgraduate teaching assistant on the MSc course Politics, Violence, and Crime.
