The Shearman & Sterling Moot is held every year with the generous sponsorship of Shearman and Sterling LLP. It takes place during Hilary Term. Twelve teams are selected on the basis of written submissions, and then compete with each other in a series of ten-minute-per-speaker 'lightning moots' through the morning. The top four teams progress to the semi-finals. Both the preliminary and the advanced rounds of the competition are judged by Faculty members of the University of Oxford, and members of Shearman & Sterling LLP. The Grand Final has traditionally been judged by a senior member of the judiciary. The competition has seen keen participation from students in the past, and we hope it will continue to do so in the future.
