Chartered Institute of Tax Advisers
PhD Grant
There are two application closing dates each year: 1 April and 1 November.
Grants will not be given to students until they have completed their first year.
Students must be undertaking either full-time or part-time research towards a PhD in taxation at a UK university although students who are registered for an M.Phil. and who intend to upgrade to a PhD before submission may apply.
This grant MUST NOT be used to meet college fees.
Preference will be given to those students who intend to remain in the UK to pursue an academic career.

CTA Direct Tax Route: certificate of eligibility for oxford tax students
BCL/MJur/MLF Students wishing to become Chartered Tax Advisors can obtain a Certificate of Eligibility for the Direct Tax Route if they passed their degree and included two tax options from Tax Dissertaion; Personal Taxation and Corproate Tax Law and Policy. Gray's Inn Tax Chambers
This prize is awarded to the candidate who, in the opinion of the examiners, writes the best paper in Law of Personal Taxation in the examination for the degree of Bachelor of Civil Law, or Magister Juris. The value of the prize is £500. No special application is required.
Pinsent Masons
This prize is awarded to the candidate who, in the opinion of the examiners, writes the best paper in Taxation Law in the Final Honour School of Jurisprudence. The value of the prize is £400. No special application is required. Pinsent Masons also generously sponsor the University Lecturer in Taxation Law.
KPMG prize
This prize is awarded to the candidate who, in the opinion of the examiners, writes the best paper on Business and Corporate Taxation in the examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Civil Law or Magister Juris. The value of the prize is £500. No special application is required. KPMG also generously sponsor the KPMG Chair in Taxation Law.
