Programme: Bachelor of Civil Law
Mariia graduated in Law in both civil and common law jurisdictions: at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine) and at the University of Lincoln.
The impact of securing the 4 New Square Chambers Scholarship on my life is hard to overestimate. The BCL course has enabled me to significantly deepen my theoretical knowledge in the legal fields that I am hugely interested in and bring my skills of legal analysis and reasoning to a new level.
The opportunities for personal and career growth that the BCL creates are truly unparalleled. The course has contributed to my success in securing mini-pupillages with two leading barristers’ chambers in London – which is of the utmost importance for me as an aspiring barrister.
The dissertation I am currently working on explores the effectiveness of the current English and Welsh legal framework in ensuring land ownership transparency, especially where trusts are involved in ownership structures. My greatest career aspiration is to become a barrister specialising in commercial litigation, in particular banking and finance litigation, corporate insolvency litigation, and real property litigation.
No words are enough to describe how crucial and valuable this generous financial support has been and is for me, and I deeply admire the willingness to help the next generation of young talent realise their potential, thrive, and make a meaningful contribution of their own.
