The reality of forcibly displaced LGBTIQA+ persons in Australia

This is a project led by the Forcibly Displaced People Network to establish the first Australian comprehensive survey on the experiences of LGBTIQA+ forcibly displaced people with their settlement in Australia. There has not been a similar survey of this kind established in Australia. With this project, we want to collect comprehensive data about LGBTIQA+ forcibly displaced people in Australia, their experiences in Australia and where they seek assistance in the realms of health, housing and other settlement services. The collected data will be used to advocate for better support and services for LGBTIQA+ asylum seekers, refugees and migrants.

Project Team: Forcibly Displaced Person’s Network led by Renee Dixson (PI) and Dr Katrina Grant, in partnership with ANU, and external investigator Dr Brandy Cochrane at Victoria University.

Funded by: ACT Government Office of LGBTIQ+ Affairs (Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate).
