Call for Papers: International Law Workshop in Honour of Professor Catherine Redgwell

The Oxford University Faculty of Law and All Souls College will host a one-day, in-person, workshop on 9 June 2023 in honour of Professor Catherine Redgwell. Professor Redgwell stepped down as Chichele Professor of Public International Law at the University of Oxford in 2022, having previous taught at the University of Manchester, University of Nottingham, and University College, London.

The workshop is for early career researchers, including doctoral students and independent researchers, working on topics and themes addressed by Professor Redgwell in her career. These topics and themes may include, amongst others, the law of treaties, international environmental law, international law of the sea, and international energy law, as well as wider topics in general international law. The idea is to create a space where researchers working on these topics enjoy close, substantive engagement with their work in progress. Nine presenters will be selected, each of whom will be paired with a respondent for the workshop. We encourage submissions from researchers with identities and from backgrounds under-represented in international law.

Abstrasts of no more than 400 words together with a short resumé should be submitted by 7 April 2023 to pil.at.oxford@gmail.com (please indicate ‘Redgwell workshop abstract’ in the subject line). If selected, participants will then be asked to circulate a draft of the paper by 20 May 2023. We are able to assist with travel and accommodation up to £200.
