ExpLaw (Freshfields) Summer School – 2026
Dates: 4 and 5 August 2026 (students travelling more than four hours will be offered an additional night’s accommodation on 3 August).
ExpLaw is a fully funded, two-day residential programme hosted by the Faculty of Law in partnership with Freshfields. Designed to give Year 12 students an immersive introduction to studying law and life at Oxford, the programme combines academic exploration with practical insight into legal careers.
Participants will engage in a range of activities, including academic taster sessions, lectures, and tutorials led by faculty members. The programme also offers guidance on applying to study law, with dedicated sessions on admissions and LNAT preparation. Students will gain first-hand insight into university life through college tours, shared meals in different colleges, and evening social activities in Oxford.
The final day is led by Freshfields, featuring a presentation from their Graduate Recruitment team and interactive sessions with trainee lawyers. In previous years, students have taken part in a group negotiation exercise and a study skills workshop, offering a practical introduction to key legal skills and career pathways.
