Open Days

The Faculty of Law holds undergraduate Taster days in March, we also take part in the University open days in  June/July, and September each year. We warmly welcome students, parents, carers and teachers to the university open days to  meet staff and students and to sample the atmosphere that makes student life at Oxford so special.

University Open Days - July & September

University open days are scheduled for 1st & 2nd July and 18 September 2026.

More information about the open days is available on the University website, we do not require you to register or book for Law sessions, however we are limited to 220 students, and ask parents / guardians to use the overflow rooms, where the presentation will be livestreamed.

A typical Open day consists of a "Law at Oxford" admissions & course overview followed by a taster lecture by one of our esteemed lecturers. The subjects vary at each session and will cover a selection of our UG subjects (Criminal, Tort, Constitutional, Land etc.) Our sessions repeat in the afternoon, again there is no need to book, however we do have a limited capacity, so you are advised to come early to secure a seat in the Gulbenkian theatre, you can use this time to speak to our Law Ambassadors, who are available all day.

Please note, the law library will operate their own tours, details can be found on the University website.

If you missed out on this years open days, please watch the recodring below presented by Rebecca Williams (Admissions Coordinator and Professor of Public Law and Criminal Law).

You can also find many more videos that will help you understand the Law programmes we offer at Oxford on the Faculty's YouTube channel.

Faculty Taster Days - March

The Law Taster Days are scheduled for 16 & 17 March 2026 - schools will be able to nominate 2 students, registration opens January 2026.

Each year, the Faculty of Law at Oxford opens its doors to prospective students for a day of academic engagement and exploration. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in law lectures and seminars, take part in a guided tour, and enjoy lunch at one of our colleges.

Due to limited capacity (220 places per day), we ask schools to nominate two students who would particularly benefit from this experience. We encourage nominations of students who:

  • Demonstrate academic potential but may lack the confidence to apply to Oxford.
  • Are on track to meet our entry requirements and have expressed a strong interest in studying law.

Where possible, schools should prioritise students from under-represented backgrounds, including but not limited to:

  • Students with experience of care
  • Those eligible for Free School Meals
  • First-generation university applicants
  • Students from military families
  • Students who identify as Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic (BAME)
  • Students from less affluent socioeconomic backgrounds

These groups are statistically underrepresented at institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge, and we are committed to addressing this imbalance.

We also offer small travel bursaries to support students who:

  • Are eligible for Free School Meals
  • Have spent time in care
  • Attend a state-maintained school or college and receive government-funded, income-assessed financial support (e.g. a 16–19 bursary)

Schools that participated last year will receive a nomination link in January. If your school did not take part previously, please contact undergraduate.enquiries@law.ox.ac.uk to request access to the nomination form. - Students cannot nominate themselves.

We also offer a short evening session for those that were not nominated, unable to attend and international students. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend this session. The registration link will go live in January.
