University nurseries: Law Faculty sponsored waiting list places

Updated 16 June 2023

The University Childcare Services operates a system of sponsorship of priority places on the nursery waiting list. The Law Faculty participates in this scheme, which enables the Faculty to nominate individual members of staff for a priority position on the nursery waiting list. This enables parents to secure nursery provision within a shorter timeframe compared to other applicants on the University nursery waiting list, but it is important to note that it does not guarantee a nursery place.

The Faculty is proud to participate in this scheme, which underpins our Athena SWAN action plan by supporting recruitment and retention, and by supporting individuals to continue with their academic or professional development goals.  Some of the income generated by the scheme is used by the University to subsidise nursery fees for students, and other funds are used towards development activities to increase and enhance nursery provision at the University.

The Law Faculty nominates individuals on a first-come-first-served basis, and all postholders will be considered as part of this process to ensure equality of opportunity to all parents. The scheme is time limited and is currently operating from 1st October 2021 to 30 September 2023 (this time frame refers to the date from which the nursery place is required).

Please visit the Childcare Services website for further information, or contact the Head of Administration and Finance, charlotte.vinnicombe@law.ox.ac.uk, for advice.

The University also operates a salary sacrifice scheme, which enables eligible University staff to pay for University of Oxford childcare places from their pre-tax salaries, provided this does not take salaries below the national minimum wage.
