The Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition (formerly known as the ELSA Human Rights Moot Court Competition) is organised annually by the European Law Student Association (ELSA) in cooperation with the Council of Europe. The competition simulates procedures of complaint before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and gives participants the opportunity to interact practically with the European Convention on Human Rights.
Every year, in collaboration with the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, the Mooting Programme at Oxford invites applications for participants and a coach for the team representing Oxford to the competition. After submitting written memorials, teams participate in regional oral rounds. The top 18 teams from regional rounds qualify to the Final Round, which is held yearly in Strasbourg with the pleadings taking place at the European Court of Human Rights and the Council of Europe. All the finalist teams have the unique opportunity to interact with lawyers and judges of the ECtHR, and the award for the winning team is a traineeship at the ECtHR.

- This competition is open to both undergraduate and taught postgraduate law students.
