Alumni Visitor Programme

The Centre for Criminology invites applications from our former MSc, MPhil, and DPhil students who wish to spend up to four weeks visiting the Centre under our new Alumni Visitor Programme launched in 2026. This programme is central to our plans for developing our alumni community and increasing the involvement of alumni in the work of the Centre. It provides a formal route for alumni to apply to visit without paying fees, and to contribute to the intellectual life of the Centre. This could include, for example, giving a talk to students or advising or sharing expertise in another form. The scheme has a wide remit, and applications are welcome from all alumni, not just those in academia, and at any level of seniority or experience. We are keen to welcome members of our alumni community back to the Centre and provide a space for developing their work. This might include academic research but could also be policy-focused or have another aim.

Applications will be considered in a gathered field and can be made up to three terms ahead of your chosen dates i.e. one academic year. We have three deadlines for applications in the current academic year: Monday 26 January, Monday 9 March and Monday 15 June. The Centre will consider applications after each of these dates and let applicants know as soon as possible. Early applications are encouraged.

Applications should include a covering letter with requested dates, a brief summary of what you hope to achieve during the visit to the Centre (up to one page) and a CV. Please send this to Abigail O’Regan, Senior Graduate Administrator abigail.oregan@crim.ox.ac.uk

Academic Visitors will have access to a shared workspace and related facilities in the Centre, but there is no financial or administrative support associated with this position. We cannot accept visitors on this scheme for more than four weeks. Visitors will need to apply in advance of their visit for an Alumni Bodleian Reader card

Any offer would be subject to fulfilling the necessary visa requirements. Please visit the visitor visas webpage for further information on UK visa requirements for overseas visitors.

This is a programme specifically for Centre for Criminology alumni. For other applicants, please see the Centre’s Academic Visitor Scheme
