The Advocacy Cup is an annual inter-varsity advocacy competition in which Oxford oppose Cambridge and Leicester compete against University of Nottingham.
The competition is run as an authentic trial, with HHJ Michael Stokes QC, The Recorder of Nottingham trying the Oxford versus Cambridge case in recent years. The teams are mentored by two senior criminal barristers from Nottingham chambers.
The trial is heard in front of a jury made up of current Nottingham Law School BPTC students, who hear evidence from three live witnesses, played by criminal barristers from Nottingham.
