CSLS Values
At the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, we deeply value the opportunity to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to challenging racism, sexism, and all forms of structural and systemic discrimination. This commitment shapes not only our teaching and research, but also the ways in which we engage in dialogue, support one another, and respond to complaints and concerns with integrity and care.
Our work is grounded in a critical examination of the gap between the promise of formal rights and the complex realities of legal processes as they are experienced in everyday life. Questions of race, gender, and inequality are not peripheral to our mission—they are central to it. These themes are actively interrogated through ongoing research projects at the Centre and continue to shape our intellectual, institutional, and interpersonal practices on a daily basis.
