DPhil Researchers participate in Methods Lab to explore human rights methodologies

Five Oxford DPhil researchers together with Professors Başak Çalı and Agnieszka Kubal recently participated in the Methods Lab of the Transforming Human Rights Cluster of Excellence to explore methodological approaches in human rights research spanning legal scholarship and the social sciences.

The first Methods Lab of the Research Cluster, organised in collaboration with the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, provided a forum for critical reflection on the opportunities of transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary research, examining how different methodological traditions contribute to the study of human rights. Through methods masterclasses and discussions, participants reflected on how methodological pluralism advances human rights research.

The participation of the Oxford team reflects the Bonavero Institute’s ongoing commitment to fostering and contributing to international conversations on the future of human rights scholarship.

The participating students were Lilian Ireland, Taqbir Huda, Victoria Adelmant, Johannes Vöhler, and Bethany Shiner.
