Dr Agnieszka Kubal among top-cited authors in the Journal of Law and Society
We are delighted to share that Dr Agnieszka Kubal, HuRiEE Principal Investigator, has been recognised for her outstanding scholarship. Her article, Judicial relational legal consciousness: authoritarian backsliding as a catalyst of change, has been ranked among the top 10 most-cited papers of 2025 in the Journal of Law and Society.
The article offers an original socio-legal analysis of how judges respond to democratic backsliding, highlighting how legal consciousness evolves through relationships with lawyers, activists, and civil society, and how these dynamics shape resistance within the judiciary.
