The Institute for Law and Policy on Climate Mobility

The Institute for Law and Policy on Climate Mobility (ICM) is at the forefront of legal and policy responses to climate mobility.  ICM brings together leading experts on climate mobility from the law, development finance and resilience planning to research, inform, advise, and implement rights-based climate resilient governance structures.

Founded by Sangeetha Iengar, an award-winning international human rights Barrister, immigration Judge, two-time TEDx speaker, and longstanding scholar on climate mobility, the Institute was created to be the go-to source for credible legal and policy advice on climate mobility for governments, civil society, corporates, academics, practitioners and interested members of the public.

Climate mobility is a field that is casually discussed and over-sensationalised in public discourse, and often misunderstood and misrepresented in legal and policy discourse.  This is mainly because international and national legal frameworks do not yet provide clear answers to the simple questions of ‘who is a climate migrant’ and ‘what is climate mobility.

The Institute for Law and Policy on Climate Mobility cuts through the noise.  We provide clear, evidence-based briefings and advice, and design policy interventions so that rights-based responses to climate mobility become mainstream.
