Welcome to the Oxford University Undergraduate Law Journal (OUULJ), Oxford's sole publication dedicated to undergraduate legal writing, edited and staffed entirely by students. The OUULJ operates independently of the Law Faculty of the University of Oxford.
Submissions to the 15th Edition of the OUULJ (2025-26) are now open. The deadline for submissions is 31 December 2025. Please see our submission guidelines.
Oxford students (undergraduate and postgraduate) wishing to contribute to the OUULJ are also invited to submit an article to our blog. Please see the submission details.
Here is the 14th Edition of the Journal. Here are details of the 14th Publication Evening.
Founded in 2009, the OUULJ is the UK's oldest and most distinguished undergraduate law journal. Under the auspices of the Faculty of Law, the OUULJ affords a unique opportunity for law undergraduates to publish their academic legal writing in a recognised law journal, providing a platform for discourse on legal developments from the next generation of legal scholars and practitioners.
Our Honorary Board has grown over the past decade. It is the OUULJ’s distinct honour to have a number of Supreme Court Justices, King’s Counsel, and leading academics across all fields of the law in endorsement of the journal. We are generously supported in our efforts by leading firms and chambers from across the United Kingdom.
We primarily accept submissions addressing topics within the Oxford undergraduate law syllabus. See a comprehensive list of these subjects. See full details of our submission guidelines.
In addition to our annual print-publication, we also run a blog and a podcast. Uniting all our efforts is the goal of promoting incisive legal discourse at Oxford and beyond. We are pleased to have relationships with various other law journals and reviews in the United Kingdom and beyond, and are always eager to forge new and stronger links with our partners.
2025 saw the publication of the 14th Edition of the Journal. We were privileged to have Lord Burrows and Lord Carnwath as judges of the prizes given to the best public and private law articles in the Journal's 14th Edition. Their Lordships were also our honoured guests at the 14th Edition's Publication Evening.
For a comprehensive overview of the Journal and its activities, please see our 2024-25 Welcome Guide.
We hope you find what you are looking for on this website. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Please note that we are only able to respond to queries regarding the work of the Journal.
