Welcome to the Centre for Criminology at the University of Oxford. We are part of the Faculty of Law, within the Social Sciences Division. We organise our teaching and research around seven substantive areas: Security, rights and justice; Penal culture, policy and practice; Politics, legitimacy and criminal justice; Crime and family; Psychology, criminal justice and law, Victims and victimisation; and Criminal justice, citizenship and migration. The Centre for Criminology attracts the highest calibre of national and international students, and provides teaching of the highest standard of undergraduate education on the Law BA in Jurisprudence degree and postgraduate education at both masters and doctoral  level.

One of the founders of the Centre for Criminology, Professor Sir Roger Hood, sadly passed away in November 2020.  He will be greatly missed and to honour him we have created a page full of tributes to him from across the world.
