Sandra is a Visiting PhD student from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. She is pursuing doctoral research in the area of Copyright Law. Her doctoral research focuses on a legal comparison between different legislative conceptions of Copyright Limitations. During her research stay at Oxford Dr. Emily Hudson supervises her work. Sandra holds a Masters degree in Law & Economics from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. Prior to joining the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre she was a research associate at the Research Center for Information Law at the University of St.Gallen (FIR-HSG). Her interests include Copyright Exceptions, Legal Comparison in the area of Intellectual Property Law as well as Trademark disputes.
Suelen is a Brazilian Doctorate Student at Law Graduate Program at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (since 2013). She is in Oxford for one year (2015/2016) under Dr. Gangjee guidance to deepen her doctoral research which focuses upon the Geographical Indications (GIs), especially regarding the function and the limits of performance of the Regulation of Use and Regulatory Board, in order to facilitate the processes of recognition and management of this distinctive sign for collective use. Both for her Brazilian doctorate as for her Oxford period she was awarded with a scholarship of academic performance. Suelen also has a Master degree of Regional Development, held with a scholarship too, by Universidade Regional de Blumenau (2013). Finally, she is Bachelor of Laws by Universidade Regional de Blumenau (2009). Professionally, Suelen has acted as legal advisor in the field of intellectual property, mainly advising producers, organizations, and public bodies about GI recognition process. Besides, she is coordinator of an annual interdisciplinary event in Brazil, that already in its fourth edition. In this event, a diverse audience, involving universities, government, producers, tourism and cultural sectors, has discussions on GIs, cultural heritage and regional development issues. In her spare time, she enjoys walking around, reading and watching movies.
Xiao's research interests are intellectual property rights especially in geographical indications, history of science and technology law. Xiao teaches intellectual property law.
