Staff at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies will be holding an informal reading group seminar to discuss the work of Carl Schmitt on Wednesday the 29th of November (Week 8) at 12:30pm in Seminar Room F of the Manor Road Building.  We will be using Schmitt's foundational text, Political Theology: Four Chapters on the Concept of Sovereignty, as a basis of discussion, however, our conversation will also include a broad discussion of Schmitt's political thought. This work is relatively short (only four chapters) and freely available through the University's Library (SOLO) services and many College Libraries. The event is in no way an endorsement or celebration of Schmitt's views or politics, instead the aim is to understand the logic, thought process, or ideology that underpins his thought and can help us understand the operation of many contemporary Far-Right Political movements today.
